The NPA has described Oscar Pistorius’s sentence as “too lenient” as it said that after careful consideration it had decided to file an application for leave to appeal, later today, Thursday, (July, 21).
They claim Pistorius’s sentence was less than half the 15 years they had wanted him to receive as the 29-year-old had not shown adequate remorse for the murder.

According to Eyewitness News, “the state says the six-year prison sentence imposed on Pistorius is disproportionate to the crime of murder and describes it as “shockingly too lenient”.
Prosecutors are of the opinion Oscar Pistorius’s sentence is an “injustice” with the possibility “to bring the administration of justice into disrepute.”
The NPA said it’s purpose to appeal is to bring clarity to the concepts of sentencing especially when it involves crimes with “prescribed minimum sentences.”
